Squash, Zucchini, Greens... Oh My!

Hey Everybody!

This week marks our third CSA delivery as well as our first squash harvest! That means we are officially making the transition from spring to summer, and we welcome the warm weather.

Everything on the farm seems to be in fool bloom this time of year, and we are excited to begin harvesting new vegetables and fruits that come with the warm weather. Here are a few pictures of everything growing at Fresh Roots located on the Goat Farm:

Baby squash...cute.

The tomatoes are coming along!

Lots of herbs...

 We'll plant anywhere!

The hoop house providing shade for little plants...

Lots of greens

We are also excited to announce that we expanded our chicken coop this week, giving the ladies much more  room to roam and strut their stuff...

Our third CSA delivery went very well this week, and we sent home a number of vegetables, herbs and more:

Turnip Greens
Mustard Greens
Romaine Lettuce
Gourmet Lettuce
Zucchini or Squash

Busy Bees

Hey Everybody,

Between our CSA delivery this week and our first day of market at Riverview Landing, we have stayed pretty busy on the farm. Here are a few pictures of life on the farm this past week:

We were very pleased with the turn out last Saturday. Tons of people and their pups showed up to enjoy the festivities and the fresh vegetables at The Market at Riverview Landing.

Even though the morning started off rainy and cloudy during harvest...

The sun came out just in time for market:

Mark even had time to plant some tomatoes at our Riverview Landing location:

Our raised beds at Riverview Landing are really coming along, and we are excited to begin harvesting our newest farm in the coming weeks.

Our second CSA delivery also went very well this week.  We had a variety of veggies to send home:

This week's delivery included:

Gourmet Lettuce Mix
Russian Kale
Chantenay Carrots
Bulls Blood Beets
Red Giant Mustard
Swiss Chard
Yellow Onion
Green Garlic
Farm Fresh Eggs

We are also excited to begin work on another farm this coming week. This new plot is located next to WonderRoot in East Atlanta, and we will be planting lots and lots of sweet potatoes. Stay tuned!

You can find us this week at the East Atlanta Village Farmer's Market on Thursday from 4 - 8.

And you can find us again at The Market at Riverview Landing on Saturday from 10 - 2. Bring your pups!

Don't forget to follow us on twitter @Fresh_Roots for the latest updates on what's happening on the farm.

See you at market!
